PISA involved on four levels with its clients:
Benchmarking the cost of specific goods within agreed parameters common to participants
Aggregating high value/high usage items within specified commodity groups to create commodity indices, reflecting price movement over time
Benchmarking the processes by which services are bought and used by Servicetrak clients together with the relevant costs
Assisting clients to network with one another for the exchange of ideas and the growth of benchmarking throughout southern Africa.
PISA’ s view on benchmarking can be summarised by the following principles:
Comparing clients costs and processes nationally to provide the most relevant information. International comparisons are relevant at a later stage, particularly when benchmarking processes
Using a “bottom-up” approach, so that our clients can drill down to see the exact cause of any anomalies
Understanding precisely each clients processes and supplier arrangements
Ensuring our services are driven by our clients needs, i.e. benchmarking what is important and relevant
Keeping our benchmarks up to date as new clients join the Pricetrak club and existing clients arrangements change
