The Procurement of HR and Skills in the Spotlight

Human Resources.jpgThe past decade of unprecedented economic growth has firmly put the spotlight on the world economy's most important asset, namely Human Resources (HR).  This has brought about massive globalisation which has tempted many of our talented professionals to greener pastures, and this, in turn, has highlighted the value of recruitment agencies.

SmartProcurement, in conjunction with benchmarking specialist, Purchasing Index (PI), are facilitating a breakfast session during which you will get the opportunity to hear from and question, some of the leading HR Recruitment Agencies which operate locally and internationally.

Karen van Staden, a PI consultant, who identified the need for this 'HR Industry' feedback, told SmartProcurement that "there is not enough interaction between the buyers and the suppliers of our most fundamental national asset - our human resources.  I think that this leads to frustrations based on a lack of understanding of exactly what goes on behind the scenes at the agencies on whom we rely to recruit and resource our requirements".

Carl Endenburg.pngOn the 6th of November 2008 in Centurion, SmartProcurement has scheduled a morning session with three top recruitment agencies so that your organisation can get to grips with all aspects of how the procurement of the HR category works.  One of the speakers you can look forward to meeting is Carl Endenburg of SET Recruitment Consultants who will cover a wide spectrum of interesting topics.  These include:

  1. The international shortage of skills and its direct impact on the South African market.
  2. The effect of the brain drain on the resources of South African organisations.
  3. The length and structure of the international recruitment process.
  4. What are recruitment costs in Dubai, the UK, Australia and Canada for head-hunting and contingency recruitment?
  5. Why do recruiters charge the fees they do, and what value does your organisation receive for these monies that you pay.
  6. The benefit of working on a 'retainer-basis' with recruiters who will use a head-hunting methodology at a discounted targeted approach.
  7. The need to build strong lasting relationships with recruiters.
  8. How to save money on your recruitment process without cutting corners and lowering the quality of skills and service.
  9. Just what are the benefits of sole agency agreements.
  10. And much, much more...

Van Staden optimistically concluded the following about the breakfast:  "The headline in the Business Times Recruitment Section on the 29th of June 2008 pretty much sums it all up - 'Finding and keeping the talent are key to business success'".
