The Smart Procurement World conference included many powerful and strategic women in supply chain and procurement who shared thought-leading information and knowledge.
“Women in supply chain and procurement should possess ethics, integrity, respect and strive for the best in the boardroom”, said Lerato Sithole, Consulting Process Solutions, Deloitte BPaaS.
“South Africa is faced with many challenges, unemployment being one of them. I believe that supply chain is the engine to create jobs. As supply chain and procurement professionals we do not understand how critical and strategic we are; professionals in this industry must understand their roles in this space," said Sibongile Shongwe, Group Supply Chain Manger, Airports Company South Africa Ltd (ACSA).
"It is difficult for women to break through into this industry. However, as women we need to stand firm and push forward,” said Shongwe.
“Women must not expect special attention in this industry; they must understand that if they put their minds on anything, they can achieve it. I believe that it is not difficult for women to break through into this space; work hard and you will achieve better,” noted Sanet Shepperson, Procurement Executive at Cell C.
