Nominations Open for the Public and Private Procurement Awards

Closing date for nominations has been extended to 17 October 2014

The State Owned Enterprise Procurement Forum (SOEPF), All About Public Procurement (AAPP) and Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) Africa’s Pan African Awards have opened for nominations.

The awards aim to reward public and private sector procurement professionals and recognise excellent practices across the procurement profession.

“Public procurement is one of the key industrial levers in the Industrial Policy Action Plan (IPAP) and state-owned entities remain the main procurement catalysts. Therefore, this makes SOEPF a strategic partner to the Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) to maximise support for local procurement and transformation,” says Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Mzwandile Masina.

The awards follow a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signed by the dti and SOEPF in March last year, where it was agreed that SOEPF will serve as a strategic partner and an advisor to the dti regarding procurement matters. The purpose of SOEPF is to support the developmental agenda of the country; through implementation of policies such as, but not limited to, Broad- Based Black Economic Empowerment, Black Industrialists, Industry Policy Action Plan, Local Procurement Accord, competitive Supplier Development Plan and New Growth Plan.
