Experience and Training: Professional experience (2 – 4 years) in Purchasing, Finance, Engineering, Business Intelligence or Marketing & Sales. Experience of sourcing or operations related to the identified category / sub category. Must demonstrate an understanding of strategic sourcing techniques and value creation analysis or demonstrate aptitude for full training in this discipline. Experience in Management of Contracts. Demonstrate the ability to manage relationships and facilitate conversations.
Qualifications: Bachelor degree level, appropriate to the job and/or business administration or equivalents. Alternatively, a relevant combination of formal (procurement-related) qualifications and additional specialised studies.
Key factors of role: Develop or contribute to fact-based strategy and plan for a small spend category or sub-category which takes into consideration both demand and supply-side considerations within the categories overall objectives. Engage if necessary with internal stakeholders to generate ideas and opportunities. Conduct data collection and analysis activities relating to the execution of a small spend category or sub-category strategic sourcing activity; identifies potential risks, issues and opportunities and proposes recommendations relating to these. Conduct sourcing, tendering activities and supports negotiation activity relating to a small spend category or sub-category in order to deliver contracting arrangements. Conduct the collection of metrics which provide an accurate view of customer satisfaction and supplier performance/compliance for a small category or sub-category. Identifies and recommends control action to senior category management team members. Responsible for the implementation of the control actions in collaboration with suppliers and the Business Units. Develop and maintain relationships with existing suppliers and new partners within the supply market for the small spend category or sub-category. Develops and maintains relationships with internal stakeholders so as to realise value creation opportunities and achievement of category strategy. Engage with internal stakeholders by collecting and responding to internal customer’s feedback and supplier performance. Participates and/or leads and organizes cross functional team working with internal stakeholders to identify small spend category or sub-category improvement opportunities. Ensure personal compliance to the Anglo American procurement policy and strategic sourcing methodology and provide continuous improvement feedback to the Enablement team when requested

Give the Commodity Specialist the tools in order to deliver the work and thought leadership. Work with the Head of Strategic sourcing to sell the strategy and gain buy-in from the business units and end users and suppliers. Work closely with marketing, engineering and other business units. Facilitate negotiations. Sufficient business knowledge across the mining, resources, engineer and heavy manufacturing and infrastructure industries and market intelligence in these. Strong focused on cost reduction and efficiency improvement based on full TCO application. Strong individuals who are out of the box thinkers. Focused not just on low hanging fruit but able in the medium and long term to put in place strategies which would move them to a higher maturity across the supply chain, focused on collaboration and long term value creation.
