Commodity Managers

Our financial services client is building a formidable sourcing division. They need to establish credibility for the procurement department within the group and achieve large saving across key commodities that include IT (hardware, telecoms and software), infrastructure and marketing advertising and services. Northern Suburbs; R600-700K.

The successful candidate needs to have a degree 5+ years experience in strategic sourcing from the financial services, telecoms or services industry and a commercial or engineering degree.

Job Focus

This role calls for an understanding and ability to apply at a high strategic level the following:

  • An ability to develop and execute Procurement best practice and drive the concept of “continuous improvement” through specific project initiatives.
  • A high level of understanding and ability to apply sound Commercial Law and financial requirements and methodologies applicable to the procurement of goods and services.
  • An ability to direct and conduct key strategic procurement functions and Supplier relationships 
  • The ability to work effectively and productively in a team environment as well as with minimal supervision.
  • Display the ability to work (and assist others) to tight deadlines and in high pressure environments.
  • A high level of interpersonal skills and the ability to proactively engage, communicate and influence internal and external stakeholders at both senior (GM/MD) and operational levels
  • Familiar with a variety of supply chain concepts, practices, and procedures and be capable of leading specific short or long term projects as required from time to time.
  • Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan, negotiate, and deliver on a predefined outcome.
  • The ability to handle multiple tasks and activities that involve a high level of complexity, financial and operational risk.
  • Familiarity and ability to utilise Electronic Commerce tools in order to add value to the procurement process
