Key responsibilities
- Develop or contribute to fact-based strategy and plan per commodity or sub-commodity which takes into consideration both demand and supply-side considerations. Engagement where necessary with internal stakeholders is required in order to generate ideas and opportunities and ensure the final strategy and plan is aligned to satisfy business requirements.
- Conduct data collection and analysis activities relating to the execution of a commodity or sub-commodity strategic sourcing activity, identify potential risks, issues and opportunities and propose recommendations relating to these
- Conduct sourcing, tendering activities and support negotiation activity relating to a commodity or sub-commodity in order to deliver contracting arrangements which deliver maximum value to the business.
- Conduct the collection of metrics which provide an accurate view of customer satisfaction and supplier performance/compliance for a small commodity or sub-commodity. Identify and recommend control action to senior commodity management team members and once approved, take responsibility for the implementation of the control actions in collaboration with suppliers and the Operations to improve performance using leading practice tools and techniques. Escalate performance issues as required.
- Develop and maintain relationships with existing suppliers and potentially new partners within the supply market for the commodity or sub-commodity to proactively maximize the delivery of value and safeguard the long term interests of the business.
- Engage with internal stakeholders (i.e. Engineering, Technical, and Group Supply Chain Team) by collecting and responding to internal customers feedback & supplier performance (based on defined KPI’s).
- Participate and in some cases lead and organize cross functional team working with internal stakeholders to identify commodity or sub-commodity improvement opportunities (i.e. driving TCO performance benefits)
Skills
REQUIREMENTS:
- Relevant Engineering Degree level i.e. Civil, Industrial or commercial degree BCom or Law or purchasing qualification
- Professional experience (+5 yrs) in Relevant Strategic Sourcing Procurement, Finance, Engineering, Data intelligence. Experience in sourcing core metals and resources industry relevant Capital projects (Capital Procurement – OPEX & CAPEX)
