WAICSL chairperson supports procurement conference

Douglas Boateng.jpgThe founding chairperson of the West African Institute for Supply Chain Leadership (WAICSL) in Ghana has put his support behind the internationally relevant SmartProcurement World Conference.

"Having participated last year, I encourage a stronger participation from African businesses at this year’s SmartProcurement World. They can only benefit from meeting the broad cross section of purchasing and procurement executives who attend the conference and expo, Dr Douglas Boateng told SmartProcurement.

The conference serves both corporate and government Procurement departments and their personnel in South Africa and will bring together over 30 leading procurement professionals from various sectors who will present their strategies for managing billion-Rand procurement and purchasing expenditures:

SmartProcurement World will be held on October 11 & 12, 2011 at Gallagher Convention Centre, Gauteng, South Africa.

Specific sectors represented by participants include agriculture, banking, chemicals, financial services, HR, ICT, logistics, mining, public sector services, technology enablement & support, retail and supply chain consulting.

SmartProcurement World is one of the foremost, procurement functional-specific, commercial conventions on the continent attracting both practicing professionals and leading service providers and suppliers involved in the procurement and supply of the national value chains.

Dr Boateng is the President of PanAvest International and holds Fellowships to several Procurement and Supply Chain Institutes. He plays an important role in developing South Africa’s professional contribution to global best practise in supply chain management and was a judge for this year’s Chartered Institute for Purchasing and Supply Procurement Awards.
