Strategic Sourcing Specialist (R400,000-550,000 Per Annum Cost To Company Incl Benefits)
Permanent position in Johannesburg in South Africa (Gauteng). Benefits: plus bonuses.
This groups activities span the globe but are strongly represented in Australia, South America and Southern Africa. Having recently re-engineered their procurement division, they are now in search of Sourcing Specialists to act in a senior advisory and service role. The company comprises a team of people working across time zones, across cultures, in a virtual environment with demanding work targets and where special attention must be paid to developing interpersonal relationships, effective teams and organisational trust.
The position requires a deep understanding and skill in the development and management of productive repeat business relationships with its customers and suppliers. Knowledge of procurement and supply chain best practices, commercial law and mining requirements and an ability to proactively manage and execute change is essential. In order to deliver outcomes, the candidate should be able to deliver value through strategic and innovative project management and execution of sourcing projects whilst mentoring and supporting peers.
Travel will be required from time to time.
This role calls for an understanding and ability to apply at a high strategic level the following:
An ability to develop and execute Procurement best practice and drive continuous improvement through specific project initiatives, a high level of understanding and ability to apply sound Commercial Law and Mining requirements and methodologies applicable to the procurement of goods and services, an ability to direct and conduct key strategic procurement functions and supplier relationships, the ability to work effectively and productively in a team environment as well as with minimal supervision, display the ability to work (and assist others) to tight deadlines and in high pressure environments, a high level of interpersonal skills and the ability to proactively engage, communicate and influence internal and external stakeholders at both senior (GM/MD) and operational levels (Superintendent, Mgr, Company representative), familiar with a variety of supply chain concepts, practices and procedures and be capable of leading specific short or long term projects as required from time to time, relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan, negotiate and deliver on a predefined outcome, the ability to handle multiple tasks and activities that involve a high level of complexity, financial and operational risk, familiarity and ability to utilize Electronic Commerce tools in order to add value to the procurement process, the ability to contribute to market development initiatives and influence end users to evaluate alternative supply sources.
Qualifications:
• B.Eng (Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical)
• MBA / B.Com as additional Degree pref.
• 2-5 years experience in Procurement / Strategic Sourcing / Contract Management
• Previous experience in Mining / Manufacturing / FMCG environment
• SAP experience
• Capital / Projects Procurement experience
• Technical Procurement
