Smart Procurement World debuts in KZN

20160609_085026.jpgThe inaugural Smart Procurement World KwaZulu-Natal conference saw more than 467 attendees, 41 exhibitors, 223 SMMEs and 169 delegates hosted at the conference.

The insightful event of 8 & 9 June 2016 featured 54 top speakers from both public and private sectors:

Cllr Fawzia Peer, Committee Chairperson, Finance and Procurement at eThekwini municipality, Kamogelo Mampane, CEO of TK Global Experts; Adv. Siza Mthethwa, General Manger, KZN Supply Chain Management, KZN Provincial; and Lilian Karuri-Magero, chairperson CIPS Gauteng, former Head of Sourcing Barclays.

Andre Petersen, Head of the Supply Chain Management Unit at eThekwini Municipality said “the initiative promotes township economy revitalisation. Its procurement model for the event promotes access to market for SMMEs giving them an opportunity to showcase their services and products. The initiative has a potential to expose and link township SMMEs with local as well as international markets, which will assist to grow their business and improve the chance of creating jobs”.

The conference offered a great opportunity for SMMEs, visiting buyers and curious procurement professionals a chance to network and discuss business ventures.
