ED incubator announces regional award winners

Shanduka1.jpgEntrepreneurs around the country have been honoured at the regional Shanduka Black Umbrellas (SBU) Enterprise Development (ED) Awards.

These were held recently at its incubators in Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg and Pretoria. Awards are made in three categories, namely Best SBU Ambassador, Jobs Created and Best Performing Company (based on profit generated and net asset value).

Minister of Economic Development Ebrahim Patel – who was the guest speaker at the Cape Town regional awards – applauded SBU for what it was doing to help develop emerging businesses and take them to the next level. He was delighted with the calibre of people in the programme and how they were already playing their part in the economic landscape.

Shanduka2.jpg“Entrepreneurship is vitally important to the economic and social development of South Africa. However, for those people who decide to start their own businesses, it can be a tough decision and transition,” says SBU CEO Mark Frankel. “We are proud of so many of our clients who have undertaken the journey with us. These awards help celebrate what they have achieved and the difference they are making while also encouraging and inspiring other entrepreneurs.”

The national awards take place at the Maslow Hotel in Johannesburg in June.
