Competence development reigns supreme at procurement awards

Meshern Govender SDB CIPS Awards.jpgStandard Bank was awarded the ‘Best People Development Initiative’ at the CIPS Pan African Procurement Awards last week at Emperor’s Palace in Johannesburg.

The financial services provider’s human capital development programme was put above the rest by its peers in the Procurement fraternity at a glitzy dinner on the first evening of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) Southern Africa’s Pan African Conference. SmartProcurement was in attendance.

The bank’s Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) Meshern Govender accepted the award.

The Annual Awards of the evening for professional excellence in Procurement and Supply Management also recognised the following organisations:

Best Process Improvement Initiative - Awarded to Johnsons Controls
Best Procurement Project - Awarded to SAPPI
Best Procurement Community Award – Vodafone Ghana
Best Supplier Relationship Management – Awarded to Absa Group Sourcing
Best Supplier Diversity Award – ESKOM, for sustainable empowerment and up-skilling
Best MD’s Award – Shell Nigeria
