CIPS & IPSA to develop a full service procurement institute in Southern Africa

The Institute of Purchasing and Supply South Africa (IPSA) and the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) intend to meld the two organisations’ interests and activities in Southern Africa.
“The two purchasing and supply organisations have been engaged in talks”, said Karen van Vuuren, IPSA President, during an announcement at the IPSA/CIPS Annual Pan African Conference.

The dialogue is still at an early stage, pointed out Bola Afolabi, CIPS President, however, IPSA and CIPS have agreed to explore the development of a full service procurement institute for Southern Africa.
“The primary objective and driver for this has been to meet an overwhelming demand from the market place for a full service professional body that can support and evolve the procurement profession at both individual and organisation levels”, said a statement of intent that accompanied the conference announcement.

The statement is signed by Afolabi and Van Vuuren and serves as a gesture of good faith by both organisations to achieve the goals they have laid down.
