Andile Tlhoaéle elected as Chairperson of ABVA

Andile Tlhoaele.JPGThe board of the Association of BEE Verification Agencies (ABVA), an independent national membership organisation established to lead the black economic empowerment (B-BBEE) verification industry, has the pleasure to announce Andile Tlhoaéle, as the new Chairperson of ABVA.

Andile Tlhoaéle is the Group CEO of Inforcomm Limited and Director of Coral-I Solutions. He is also the Deputy Chairperson of the B-BBEE ICT Charter Steering Committee at Nedlac, Deputy Chairperson of ISETT SETA Board and Chairperson of its Executive Committee.

Tlhoaéle began his involvement in BEE policy development as a Convener for the Communications Cabling Association of Southern Africa (CCASA) BEE sub-committee in 2002. He has been part of the ICT Charter Working Group Task Team responsible for producing the series of Draft Charters until the Final Draft Charter in November 2004. He was also a member of the committee responsible for drafting the gazetted DTI Verification Manual for Verification Agencies, and currently participates in its Joint Technical Committee on BEE and SANAS’s Technical Committee on Accreditation.

Tlhoaéle’s years of experience and commitment to the principles of BEE and business development in South Africa make him the ideal candidate to lead ABVA into the future. The BEE Verification Industry is rapidly expanding and ABVA thus has a critical role to play as the officially recognised industry body. “We collectively, as a Board, are going to ensure that we fearlessly dedicate our time to promote the interests of our members. I will personally ensure that ABVA claims its rightful place as an effective enabler of Black Economic Empowerment,” said Tlhoaéle.

As the ABVA Chairperson, Tlhoaéle will oversee various portfolios with the responsibility to ensure that ABVA lives up to its mandate and objectives, which include:

  • To promote the objectives of the B-BBEE Act and the Codes;
  • To promote high levels of professionalism and competence;
  • To regulate the proper conduct and practice of members; and
  • To represent the BEE verification sector in its dealings with the DTI, SANAS, the public and other relevant stakeholders.
